Preservação do patrimônio cultural e instrumentos para a promoção de ações educativas : o caso de São Luís (1995-2008)

Abstract

A dissertação “Ações Educativas e Prática Preservacionista: o caso do Centro Histórico de São Luís (1995-2008)” tem por objetivo discutir a relação entre ações educativas e práticas preservacionistas na cidade, por meio da identificação e mapeamento dos instrumentos de tais ações através dos órgãos de preservação atuantes e demais instituições afins, a partir de uma sistematização metodológica de análise dos instrumentos para a preservação, tendo por base as Cartas Patrimoniais, que são documentos nacionais e internacionais resultantes de reuniões sobre a preservação do patrimônio cultural. As Cartas Patrimoniais recomendam, desde 1931, a prática e a promoção de ações educativas, com base nos conceitos de patrimônio cultural e intervenções arquitetônicas e urbanísticas, ampliados ao longo do tempo. Dentro do universo de instrumentos em prol da preservação do patrimônio cultural identificados em São Luís - audiovisual, folders, cartilhas, livros, manuais, oficinas, palestras etc. –, foram selecionados, como objeto de estudo, doze instrumentos – dez cartilhas, um manual e um livro didático. O estudo revela que as relações entre ações educativas e práticas preservacionistas variam de acordo com a época, a instituição promotora, o foco, os objetivos e o público a ser alcançado. Os instrumentos para a promoção das ações educativas em São Luís geralmente têm o foco no patrimônio arquitetônico e urbano e seus elementos característicos, ou pelo menos é sempre um dos pontos de interesse das cartilhas que, em geral, são válidas enquanto informação, mas muitas vezes estão descontextualizadas de seus objetivos e do público para quem se dizem alvo. _________________________________________________________________________________ ABSTRACT

The dissertation, "Educational Activities and preservation practice: the case of the Historical Center of São Luís (1995-2008)" aims to discuss the relationship between educational practices and preservationists in the city, through the identification and mapping tools such actions by preservation agencies and other agencies working from a systematic methodology for analysis of tools for preservation based on the Letters heritage. National and international documents resulting from meetings on the preservation of cultural heritage recommend Letters heritage, since 1931, the practice and promotion of educational activities based on the concepts of cultural heritage and architecture and urban interventions, expanded over time. Within the universe of instruments for the preservation of cultural heritage identified in São Luís - audiovisual, brochures, booklets, books, manuals, workshops, lectures etc.. – Were selected as the object of study, twelve instruments – ten booklets, a workbook and a textbook. The dissertation shows that relations between educational and preservation practices vary according to season, the sponsoring institution, the focus, objectives and audience to be reached. The instruments for the promotion of educational activities in São Luís have generally focused on architectural and urban heritage and its characteristic features, or at least is always a point of interest of the booklets. The booklets are generally valid as information, but are often decontextualized from their goals and the public for those who say they target.
