Olhares sobre a África : abordagens da história contemporânea da África nos livros didáticos brasileiros

Abstract

O tratamento concedido à história da África Contemporânea nos livros didáticos da 6ª a 8ª séries do Ensino Fundamental é o objeto principal do presente artigo. O enfoque eleito e as questões levantadas articulam-se em torno de duas reflexões centrais: o quanto os textos, imagens e interpretações apresentadas pelos livros escolares divergem ou convergem em relação ao chamado imaginário brasileiro construído sobre a África e os africanos; e o quanto eles dialogam, ou não, com a produção historiográfica sobre a África. Observamos de uma forma geral a existência de uma análise superficial das trajetórias recentes dos países e sociedades africanas e uma repetição das representações e estereótipos divulgados sobre o continente no imaginário ocidental. _________________________________________________________________________________________ ABSTRACT

The treatment given to history of Contemporary Africa in textbooks of 5 th to 8 th grade is the main subject of this article. The focus elected and the issues raised are articulated around a central consideration: how the texts, images and interpretations made by school books diverge or converge in relation to the so-called imaginary Brazilian built on Africa and the Africans. As a general framework it is a superficial analysis of the recent trajectories of the countries in African societies in a repeat of representations and stereotypes disclosed on the continent.
