Antropologia e ambiente : entre transgressões e sínteses

Abstract

Nesta dissertação discuto a possibilidade de uma abordagem sintética em antropologia para as relações estabelecidas pelos humanos com seus ambientes, recorrendo à história da disciplina. Em um primeiro momento, reviso o trabalho de autores clássicos de modo a entender a emergência de distintas abordagens para o ambiente em antropologia cultural, social e ecológica. Em uma segunda parte, de caráter menos histórico e mais programático, focalizo desenvolvimentos relativamente recentes em biologia e em antropologia para propor a abordagem sintética. Por um lado, reviso uma nova biologia (ou novas biologias), que apresenta um novo entendimento da relação entre gene, organismo e ambiente. Por outro, reviso o trabalho de dois antropólogos, Gregory Bateson e Tim Ingold, que em suas obras transdisciplinares articularam biologia, antropologia e psicologia, abrindo caminho para uma abordagem do humano total nas relações estabelecidas em seus acoplamentos perceptivos ativos com seus ambientes. É uma dissertação, portanto, que enfoca tanto a trajetória da antropologia no trato do ambiente, quanto das relações entre antropologia e biologia. _____________________________________________________________________________________ ABSTRACT

In this Master’s thesis I discuss the possibility of a synthetic approach in anthropology to the relations established by humans with their environments, using as a basis the history of the discipline. In the first part, I review the work of some classic authors to understand the emergence of distinct approaches to the environment in cultural, social and ecological anthropology. In the second part, I focus on some relatively recent developments in biology and in anthropology to propose a synthetic approach. On the one hand, I review a new biology (or new biologies) that presents a new understanding of the relation between gene, organism and environment. On the other, I review the work of two anthropologists, Gregory Bateson and Tim Ingold, whose transdisciplinary works articulate biology, anthropology and psychology, opening the way to an approach to the whole human being in the relations established through their active perceptive couplings with their environments. Therefore, this Master’s thesis deals with the ways anthropology has understood the environment, and about the relations between anthropology and biology.
