Abstract: Introduction: Food neophobia (FN) in childhood, characterized by resistance to new foods, impacts physical and mental development. Adequate nutrition in early childhood is crucial to preventing future problems. FN demands special attention, especially in cases of Gluten-Related Disorders (GRD), due to the risks associated with restrictive diets and food allergies. Objectives: To develop an integrative review on food neophobia in children and evaluate NA in Brazilian children with GRD. Method: The review followed the PRISMA guidelines, with a personalized systematic search in several databases. The screening took place in two phases, with two reviewers and a third in case of disagreement. The cross-sectional study included Brazilian children aged 4 to 11 years with GRD. A questionnaire validated in Portuguese, with 25 questions, assessed FN in three axes: FN general, FN of fruits and FN of vegetables. Data collection was carried out via the Google platform, and analysis used the Student's T test and the Mann-Whitney test. Results: The integrative review covered 17 studies, highlighting the adaptation of the Food Neophobia Scale and the Children's Food Neophobia Scale to different languages, with the creation of 11 new instruments. In the evaluation of 209 children with GRD, the majority female, 76% diagnosed with celiac condition, 81.3% following a diet, 43.1% had total moderate food neophobia. Conclusion: Brazilian children with GRD have a moderate prevalence of food neophobia. General neophobia and that of vegetables predominate, while that of fruit is lower. Girls exhibit greater neophobia towards vegetables. The finding that neophobia does not vary with age is worrying, suggesting persistence of the behavior and potential nutritional challenges in adult life. Differentiated attention to this population is essential to minimize long-term impacts.
