Abstract:	This research was developed as a consequence of the psychoanalytic experience. It is in this sense that we have articulated to this research the clinical case fragment of a woman who, at a certain point in her life, was compelled to answer about motherhood and, then, was traversed by the threat of insanity. She believed that the madness of the women in her family had been triggered by motherhood, something insisted on as a transgenerational repetition. We initiated the development of this analysis by presenting an overview of the directions taken by Sigmund Freud and Jacques Lacan in their elaborations on the Oedipus in psychoanalytic theory. In addition, we address the tragic nature presented in the subjective constitution and in the destinies that are posed to the subjects originated from the passage through the Oedipal transit. This research, however, does not aim to exhaust the matter, above all it seeks to reinstate the debate and renew the importance of Oedipus in psychoanalysis. The clinical case fragment served us to direct what would be in the order of the transmission of the subjective positions of the women in a family, and the issues that were raised seemed to us an invitation to revisit the Oedipus complex. In the end, we address a question about the transmission of signifiers: what can a subject, amidst destiny and unreason, do with the inheritances received?
