Abstract: Corrosion of steel reinforcement has been one of the main deterioration mechanisms in concrete structures. Then there is the necessity of quantitative and non-destructive techniques for evaluation of corrosion intensity in its early State recovering the performance of structure at a satisfactory levei. The device GEC0R6 was developed for this purpose, which make instantaneous measure of the corrosion rate in real structures using the polarization Resistance technique. The present work make an evaluation of the performance of device GEC0R6 relative to imposes conditions through measures of electrochemical parameters (iCOTT, ECOIX and p) in situ and laboratory analysis. Concrete specimens (dimension: 40 x 100 x 7 cm) are submitted to accelerated carbonation and chlorides action test in laboratory for a previous calibrating device. The study in situ is made in a structure submitted to carbonation of concrete in which it try to identiíy the conditions of the structures that produced the corrosion manifestation. In both stages complementai analysis are developed considering the properties of the influence in the transport mechanisms of agressive substances in concrete. The device GECOR6 shown reasonable efficient for the measure of the corrosion intensity presenting some limitation when the rebar is in passive State. The corrosion potential don’t presented a satisfactory' relationship with the corrosion intensity it must be used only as a thermodynamic parameter The measure of the resistivity didn’t present a satisfactory result it could be used only to detect zones with different humidity contents.
