Abstract:	The present research is inserted in the Graduate Program in Education of the Faculty of Education of the University of Brasília in the line of research on Teaching Profession, Curriculum and Evaluation. It is also part of the scope of research carried out by the Study Group and Research on Teacher Training and Performance (GEPFAPe). We started from the question about the way the teachers of geography of the public of the Federal District attribute senses and meanings to their teaching work, based on the temporality of the career and its determinants along the professional path. This way, the general objective was to find out how these teachers engender themselves within the career, analyzing the senses and meanings to the work they assigned themselves. In the face of these inquiries, we heard through fifteen semi-structured interviews, fifteen faculty members of the State Department of Education of the Federal District, and from their speeches we searched for the nuclei of meaning - method of analysis of sociohistorical psychology, based on studies by Aguiar and Ozella (2006, 2013). We conducted theoretical analyses of the marks of teaching and career work, also entering into theories that affirm the existence of a professional life cycle occurring in teaching, especially to what was theorized by Michael Huberman (2000), although other authors also present their propositions of how the professional cycle would take place. Having reached five nuclei of meaning, namely: "Historical constitution of being a teacher"; "Contradictions of training and teaching work"; “Fulfillment / Strangeness in the teaching work"; "Temporality and becoming a teacher" and "Mediation on the teaching career in SEEDF", our research presents the constitution of senses and meanings by teachers at different times in the career. Taking them as historically situated men, wrapped in social, economic, political and cultural contexts that interact with their ways of seeing themselves, the work they do and the world around them, we seek to understand the phenomenon taking into account their multiple determinations.
