A história dos Chiquitanos : (re) configurações sociais e territoriais

Abstract

Apresento uma reflexão sobre a história dos Chiquitanos, uma sociedade indígena localizada na fronteira mato-grossense com a Bolívia, desqualificados regionalmente como índios sem terra ou bugres. Por meio de uma pesquisa bibliográfica traço a trajetória histórica desse grupo, suas configurações sociais e territoriais, com o objetivo de perceber os motivos dos deslocamentos desse grupo. A pesquisa, em primeiro lugar, teria que ser capaz de reconstituir a história dessa sociedade para depois explicar esses deslocamentos e trocas historicamente localizadas. _______________________________________________________________________________________ ABSTRACT

In this dissertation I present a reflection on the history of the Chiquitanos, an Indigenous society inhabiting the frontier between Bolívia and the Brazilian state of Mato Grosso, stigmatised locally as ‘landless Indians’ or ‘bugres’. I endeavour to describe the historical trajectory of this people, their social and territorial configurations throughout time, with the aim to understand the reasons of their geographical occupation – and their displacements by Europeans - along history. The first goal of my research is to explain these occupation and displacements, as well as exchanges between them and other Indigenous peoples (as well as Europeans) against an historical setting.
