Jornalismo sobre investigações : relações entre Ministério Público e a imprensa

Abstract

Esta pesquisa propõe uma tipologia para diferenciar o jornalismo investigativo – resultado de investigação feita pelo próprio jornalista – do que neste estudo é denominado jornalismo sobre investigações – o que se dedica a divulgar informações de investigações feitas por autoridades. A partir dessa diferenciação e tendo por objeto as três maiores revistas semanais de informação do país – Época, IstoÉ e Veja -, a pesquisa avalia a produção jornalística nos anos de eleições presidenciais entre 1989 e 2002, O estudo concluiu que houve no período um aumento no volume de reportagens sobre investigações – o que não ocorreu com as reportagens investigativas - e que grande parte desse acréscimo se deve às relações entre a imprensa e o Ministério Público. Dessa forma, o levantamento mostra que a agenda da imprensa se tornou dependente da agenda do Ministério Público e que o jornalismo sobre investigações passou a superar, em muito, o jornalismo investigativo. _________________________________________________________________________________________ ABSTRACT

This research offers a typology that differentiates investigative journalism – the result of investigation made by the journalist himself - from what, in this research, we named journalism about investigations - which disseminates information about investigations made by authorities. From this differentiation - and focusing on Brazil's three main information magazines: Época, IstoÉ and Veja -, the paper evaluates journalistic production in the presidential election years between 1989 and 2002. The study concluded that there was, in that period, a significant raise in the number of reports about investigations (although the same did not occur as to investigative reports) - and that a large part of this increase results from the relationship between the press and the Public Prosecution Service. As such, numbers reveal that the press' agenda had become dependant on the Public Prosecution Service's agenda, and that journalism about investigations surpassed, in no uncertain terms, investigative journalism.
