A interação usuário-texto na resolução de problemas : estudo experimental

Abstract

O objetivo central com o presente estudo é contribuir com a compreensão da relação entre informação e estrutura de conhecimento, a partir da investigação da interação usuário-texto. O objetivo é perseguido dentro de abordagem interdisciplinar com contribuições vindas do ponto de vista cognitivo na Ciência da Informação e do processamento da informação na Psicologia Cognitiva. A primeira contribui com a distinção dos conceitos de dado e informação a partir da qual é realçada a importância do texto e da interação usuário-texto. Embora relevante para a Ciência da Informação, a compreensão dessa interação ainda apresenta algumas lacunas a serem preenchidas. Por sua vez, a segunda contribui com o conceito de estrutura de conhecimento e como ela orienta a interação do indivíduo com o mundo que o circunda. Outra contribuição dessa abordagem diz respeito aos conceitos e componentes do processo cognitivo de resolução de problemas. Este oferece contexto bem delineado no qual aprofundar o entendimento da interação usuário-texto. Com fundamento na literatura referenciada, é proposto modelo conceitual que, enfatizando a relação entre os conceitos aqui tratados, proporciona base para a formulação e verificação de três hipóteses de trabalho, verificadas por meio do método experimental, recomendado para estudos de relações de causa e efeito como as propostas. A verificação da interação em questão parte da perspectiva do nível de expertise do solucionador e da extensão do enunciado do problema e é medida nos escores alcançados na resolução desses. Os dados, tratados estatisticamente, mostraram efeito principal significativo do nível de expertise e da extensão do enunciado, sem contudo apontar para efeito de interação significativo entre essas duas variáveis. As conclusões reforçam a noção de interação do usuário-texto, sendo que algumas das características que governam essa interação são o nível de expertise do usuário e a extensão do texto. _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ ABSTRACT

The main goal with the present paper is to contribute to the comprehension of the relationship between information and knowledge structure by the examination of the user-text interaction. Such goal is persuaded within an interdisciplinary approach with contribution from the cognitive viewpoint in Information Science and the information processing approach in Cognitive Psychology. The former contributes with the distinction between the concepts of data and information from which is highlighted the importance of the text and the user-text interaction. Although the relevance of such interaction to the Information Science still remains some lack of understanding to fulfil. By its turn, the latter approach contributes with the concept of knowledge structure and how it guides the individual interaction with surrounding world. Another contribution of this approach relates to the concepts and components of the cognitive process of problem solving. This provides well-defined context in which to deepen the understanding of the text-user interaction. Based on the referenced literature is proposed a conceptual model in which is emphasised the relationship between the concepts covered by this study. Such model also provides a basis for formulating and testing three working hypotheses, verified by the experimental method, which is recommended for cause-effect studies like the one here presented. The verification of the user-text interaction is accomplished by taking into consideration the solver’s level of expertise and the problem statement’s extent and is measured on the scores achieved by the solver in his attempt to address with the problems. Data were statistically analysed showed significant main effect of level of expertise and extent of statement without, however, pointing to significant interaction effect between these two variables. The findings reinforce the notion of user-text interaction, pointed out that some of the characteristics that govern this interaction are the user’s level of expertise and the text extent.
